Target’s New Home Collection Is Going to Transform Your Apartment
Historically, home basics like cookware and storage have always fallen into two camps: pretty and expensive or ugly and cheap. We just got the news today that Target is giving us Option C: chic, minimalist essentials for a great price. Its new collection, Made by Design, includes a whopping 750 items for pretty much every room in your house, from the kitchen to the laundry room. A toaster in its purest form? Check. No-frills quilted comforters in the softest pastel shades? Check. The materials are utilitarian—basic blond wood, lots of gray tones, classic canvas, stainless steel—but the lines are sleek and modern. Everything is so simple as to be almost invisible, and we mean that in the best way. Rather than stand out glaringly, your makeup storage can sit oh-so-quietly on the counter, attracting nary a glance. Ahhhh.
"We conduct guest research for every owned brand we create, but the Made by Design collection is actually the result of the most guest research we’ve ever embarked on here at Target," says Jill Sando, senior vice president of merchandising at the company. "We reached guests through focus groups, Target Headquarter visits, in-home immersions, surveys, and more, to help better understand our guests’ everyday pain points and ensure we created a collection that provides timeless solutions.”
And don't think we forgot about the prices. They range from $1 to $260, but most things are under $30—a.k.a. the same price as Friday night's dinner out. Made by Design will hit stores and target.com on June 23. In the meantime, here's what's on our wish list:
