Tanker truck turns over in Bradford County

NEW ALBANY, N.Y. (WETM) — A tanker truck turned over on its side in Bradford County with officials working into the night before clearing the scene on Tuesday.

According to a post by the Bradford County Department of Public Safety on Wednesday, a semi-truck with a tanker trailer was driving on Hatch Hill Road in New Albany on Tuesday, March 26, when it turned over on the side of the road around 1 p.m.

The truck was blocking the driveway to a storage unit facility with the end of the trailer hanging off over a drainage ditch.

Emergency crews learned that the driver escaped without being injured and the contents inside the tanker didn’t leak out.

Precautions were made and the liquid inside was pumped out of the truck to prevent a spill during the recovery. Officials say various underflow dams and booms were placed in the runoff ditch to catch the liquid if an accidental spill happened.

Hatch Hill Road was flooded with crews on Tuesday trying to work and get the truck upright and out of the driveway to the storage facility.

The Bradford County Department of Public Safety said that the product in the trailer was unloaded after several hours and was taken to a disposal facility.

Officials say the truck was recovered with all units cleared of the scene by 10 p.m. and confirm no environmental hazards or injuries resulted from the rollover.
