Tangipahoa Parish crash leaves Hammond man dead

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Hammond man dead in Tangipahoa Parish on Monday, April 15.

The LSP reported the crash happened on U.S. Highway 190 at South Baptist Road around 5:15 p.m.

They said an initial investigation shows 24-year-old Victoria Reid was driving a Honda east on U.S. Highway 190 near the intersection at South Baptist Road with a red light while 45-year-old Eric Cook was driving a Toyota north on South Baptist Road with a green light.

According to the LSP, “the Honda traveled into the intersection, while the red traffic signal was still displayed, and struck the Toyota.”

Cook suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Reid suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
