Tampa residents participate in nationwide strike, call for Gaza ceasefire

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A pro-Palestine rally wove its way through downtown Tampa on Monday morning.

Demonstrators were answering a call from the National Strike for Gaza to protest U.S. involvement in the war.

The Tampa protestors grabbed their picket signs and started their march at Lyke Gaslight Square Park.

Their efforts will continue throughout the day as the strike encourages allies to withhold from doing anything to stimulate the economy on Monday. This includes going to work, school and spending money.

“We demand that the money stops going to Israel,” said Protest Organizer Ali Abdel-Qader. “We demand that that money comes here. We demand that those money comes into our community. Our community has needs. We have people who are living out on the street, we have people who can’t afford to go to school, can’t afford to pay the bills for rent, for medical care, all of these things.”
