Tampa leaders warn of weekend traffic delays in and around downtown
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Leaders with the city of Tampa are warning about traffic congestion expected in and around downtown over the weekend. They say drivers should be prepared for delays, road closures and detours due to a “jam-packed weekend” of parades, performances and other events.
Alternate options for drivers include the Free TECO Streetcar, DASH rides, HART buses, rentable e-scooters, and bikes. Weekend events include:

Next Level Nationals at Tampa Convention Center
Lauren’s Kid’s Walk – 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tampa Caribbean Carnival & Parade – Noon to 10 p.m. at Perry Harvey Sr.
Book of Mormon – 2 p.m. & 8 p.m. at Straz
Kenny Chesney – 5 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium
Gloria Trevi – 8 p.m. at Amalie Arena
Tampa Bay Heart Ball at Marriott Water Street

Drivers can expect closures on Central Avenue, Governor Street, Hank Ballard Street and Harrison Street, as well as portions of Platt Street and Bayshore Boulevard.
