Tallahassee Police: Suspect at large after man shot in chest outside Lake Bradford store

A man was shot in the chest Thursday night in the parking lot of Tony's Mart on Lake Bradford Road, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Police responded around 6:30 p.m. and rendered aid until Emergency Medical Services could arrive. The victim was taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

"Officers searched the area and surrounding neighborhoods extensively for the suspect," TPD said in a news release. "However, the suspect was not located."

TPD said no arrests have been made and that the investigation remains open and active.

"At this time, all involved individuals have been identified and the preliminary investigation determined the victim and suspect were known to each other," TPD said.

A TPD spokesperson and watch commander did not return phone calls Thursday night about the shooting or the suspect search. The department issued its press release at 10:15 a.m. Friday morning.

So far this year in Tallahassee and Leon County, eight people have died and 15 people have been injured in at least 20 shooting incidents, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis.
