SUV falls into Uptown sinkhole

CHICAGO — A sinkhole that formed in the city’s north side Uptown neighborhood stalled one driver when their SUV got stuck in the roadway.

The hole formed around midday Thursday on the 1200 block of West Winnemac Avenue.

A photo shared with the WGN newsroom showed the right front wheel of the vehicle stuck in the crevasse, causing the read of the SUV to be lifted off the ground.

No other information was immediately available but crews were on the scene at 2 p.m. working to remove the vehicle from the hole. The hole was covered by 3:30 p.m.
