Sutter man mistakenly shoots at friends, arrested

(FOX40.COM) — A man was arrested for shooting at his friends after mistaking them for someone else on Saturday night, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said it received a report of a shooting just before midnight on Schroeder Road in the City of Sutter.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victims had been invited to the suspect’s home for a bonfire.

The sheriff’s office said that as the victims arrived they were shot at by their friend who lived at the residence.

The back window of the victims’s vehicle was shot out but the victims were unharmed.

When deputies contacted the suspect, he said he thought they were someone else.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect told them that he had been in an altercation at Marysville Raceway during which he was threatened by another person.

The suspect said that when he heard a vehicle arriving at his home he assumed it was the person who had threatened him and shot at it.

The man was arrested and is facing charges of attempted homicide.
