Suspect sought after shooting in grocery store parking lot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting in a grocery store parking lot that left one person injured.

Police said the shooting happened at around 3:45 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the parking lot of the Food Lion located in the 3600 block of Bell Road near Hermitage.

The suspect is believed to have been loitering in the parking lot for “some time” and tried to rob the victim as he was getting out of his car, leading to the victim being shot in the jaw, according to investigators.

Police said immediately after the shooting, the suspect ran toward Bell Road and tried to carjack a woman in a Dodge Charger, but was unsuccessful. He then ran across Bell Road to another area.

The victim’s injuries are not critical.

A police helicopter was dispatched to the area, but the suspect has not yet been apprehended.
