Suspect in deadly east Charlotte shooting arrested in Virginia

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A suspect in a deadly east Charlotte shooting has been arrested in Virginia, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said on Friday.

Officers responded to calls regarding the incident around 5 p.m. on Friday April 12th near 6200 Upas Lane in east Charlotte. 21-year-old Justin Caracha-Soto was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on scene. A continued investigation made the death investigation into a homicide investigation, and detectives were able to identify Alejandro Sequeira, 23, as a suspect. Sequeira was located in Virginia and was arrested on Thursday, CMPD said.

He has been charged with murder and is awaiting extradition to Charlotte.

A Violent Crime Apprehension Team and the Washington FBI offices assisted in the operations.
