Suspect charged with concealment of a death in connection with missing Belmont man

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect has been charged in connection to the Belmont man reported missing last month.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say 31-year-old Andrew Tench was reported missing March 25 and last seen in Charlotte. His car was found abandoned in Monroe, according to Gaston County Police.

Charlotte resident D’Shaun Montrell Robinson, 26, was identified as a person of interest in this investigation.

CMPD officials say detectives executed a search warrant at Robinson’s home Thursday, April 11. After speaking with police at CMPD headquarters, Robinson was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Felony concealment of a death

  • Felony identity theft

  • Felony financial card theft (2 counts)

  • Felony financial card fraud

  • Felony larceny of motor vehicle

  • Financial card fraud (3 counts)

Robinson is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail. He has a significant criminal history, including arrests for burglary, assault on a law enforcement officer, and drug possession.

Detectives with the CMPD will meet with family members of the victim to discuss the active missing person case.
