Police surround house on Airways, but suspect not found

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police surrounded a house on Airways for hours Friday as they searched for a suspect who ran from Southaven Police and allegedly barricaded himself inside a house.

However, police said at 5 p.m. that the suspect wasn’t located at the house. The police crisis team began leaving the scene.

Memphis Police were called at noon to help the Southaven Police Department track a robbery suspect believed to be in the city. They said property stolen in a robbery of a Southaven store ended up at the house.

MPD had numerous vehicles set up in the 1500 block of Airways near Lamar. Police said the TACT Unit was on the scene out of an abundance of caution.

At 4:45, a woman was seen being led away in handcuffs. Her identity is not known.

The suspect allegedly tied an employee up in the back of the store during the robbery. He got away before the police arrived.

Officers tracked the suspect to the home on Airways in Memphis, saying some of the stolen property ended up there.
