Susan Tran joins DC News Now as evening anchor

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Susan Tran joins DC News Now as evening anchor July 15, anchoring alongside Chris Flanagan on DC News Now at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m., and DC News Now at 10 p.m. on DCW50.

DC News Now streams live on DCNewsNow.com, YouTube TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Hulu, Roku, and Fubo.

Susan previously was an anchor at NBC 10 Boston and NECN, reported at WHDH-TV in Boston, served as weekend anchor at WSOC in Charlotte, N.C., and reported at WFXT in Boston. She began her on-air career as the main anchor at WKTV in Utica, N.Y.

Susan is a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist. She covered all aspects of the Boston Marathon bombings, from the day that it happened through the 10-year anniversary. Susan also covered the Beijing Winter Olympics, numerous Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox championships, a number of blizzards, and dozens of DEI-focused stories.

While in Charlotte, she covered the ever-changing business climate in bustling Uptown, NASCAR races, and the Obama campaign that turned North Carolina blue for the first time in three decades.

Once, with the help of Upstate New York firefighters, Susan put on a dry suit and purposely was dropped into an icy lake to help warn families about the dangers of thin ice.

Susan is originally from Los Angeles. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University, speaks conversational Mandarin-Chinese, and is excited to make DC home with her husband and pup, Margaret.
