"Survivor" is one of the original reality TV competition shows that helped launch the era of reality TV. Though there were shows like MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules," "Survivor" gets the credit for paving the way for reality TV competitions.

The show started in 2000 with host and executive producer Jeff Probst and as of May 2024 is in its 46th season. The concept? Did anyone from Florida win 'Survivor?'

Die-hard fans may know the exact number of "Survivor" contestants with a Florida tie during the show's long-running history. There are three (or four) "Survivor" winners who currently or once called Florida home:

Rob Mariano aka Boston Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich or Amber Mariano: Don't let the Boston accent and frequent Boston Red Sox hat appearances fool you. Mariano and his wife, fellow "Survivor" and "Amazing Race" contestant Amber Brkich, are likely the most famous "Survivor" duo. The couple began dating in 2004 when they were in the same tribe for season eight or "Survivor: All-Stars." Amber Brkich competed on the show three times (season 2 for "Survivor: The Australian Outback," season eight with Rob, which she won, and season 40, "Survivors: Winners at War," again with her husband, Boston Rob). Boston Rob Mariano also competed and won season 22 or "Survivor: Redemption Island." The couple lives in Pensacola with their four daughters.

Pravati Shallow: "Survivor" fans are likely familiar with Shallow − she's competed on the show multiple times over the years. Shallow appeared on "Survivor: Cook Islands or season 13, "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" or season 20 and "Survivor: Winners at War" or season 40. She won "Survivor: Micronesia" − sometimes referred to as "Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites" − or season 16 of the long-running reality TV show. Shallow was born in Vero Beach, Florida.

Dee Valladares: The winner of season 45, which premiered Sept. 27, 2023, on CBS, was Dee Valladares, who was born in Havana, Cuba. Season 45 of "Survivor" was set in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. During filming, Valladares and fellow "Survivor" castaway Austin Li Coon developed a "showmance," or began dating. Coon, of Chicago, was originally an alternate for the reality TV competition for that season and ended up as a runner-up. Valladares lives in Miami.
