Supermodel Rachel Hunter's Guide to New Zealand

During her nine-year marriage to Stewart, Hunter became a mom to daughter Renee, now a 25-year-old dancer, and son Liam, a 23-year-old ice hockey pro. While they were born in London, the children enjoyed regular vacations to Hunter’s homeland during their childhood. “We went on this one fishing expedition on the Coromandel when the kids were younger, which was great,” she recalls.

“As soon as we would arrive in New Zealand, the kids would get mince [meat] pies, then we’d head straight out to Pakiri Beach and Piha Beach. There are a lot of places just like those beaches as well as Waiheke Island, which are in the immediate area surrounding Auckland. As soon as we’d get off the plane, we would utilize that environment pretty hard and fast. When you have kids and you’re from New Zealand, you immediately want them to feel like they can just take their shoes off and run around. It’s laid back and very child and family-friendly.”
These days, their first stop is often Auckland’s picturesque Waitemata Harbor. “Getting out on a boat is immediately what we often do,” she says. “We have a pretty amazing harbor in Auckland."
