Sunny skies and steady temps before warm-up this weekend

ALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Thursday or happy Friday eve, Utah! Today will bring quiet skies across the state with temperatures similar to yesterday, but by tomorrow a warming trend will begin.

Today will be a beautiful day across the Beehive State. We’ll see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with daytime highs similar to what we had yesterday. That means for most outside of the high country, we’ll see highs in the 50s and 60s.

In southern Utah, we’ll see a few spots reach the 70s while some in southernmost Utah like St. George reach the 80s. Tonight will bring partly cloudy skies with overnight lows slightly warmer than what we saw last night.

As we round out the workweek, a weak system will brush the Beehive State. For most, this will just mean a few more clouds than today, however, in central and southern Utah, mainly near I-70, a few pop-up showers look to be possible during the afternoon.

Temperatures will begin a warming trend as most will see a high about 5 degrees warmer than this afternoon. That will be good enough to see the Wasatch Front reach the low and mid-60s while Park City will get into the mid-50s.

High pressure will build in as we go through the weekend resulting in calm skies sticking around while temperatures continue to warm. By Sunday we could be looking at highs in the mid-70s along the Wasatch Front, near 60 in Park City, and we could get close to 90 in St. George! The above-average warmth and mostly quiet pattern look to persist through the first half of next week with some subtle changes before bigger changes could arrive by the end of next week.

The beautiful spring weather comes with a cost for allergy sufferers. Pollen counts are in the extreme category this week with the main culprit being trees, but grass is becoming a key player as well. So long as the pollen doesn’t keep you trapped inside, it will be a perfect outdoor weather week!
