Summer road work coming for Hunters Ridge area

SHAWNEE CO. (KSNT) – Shawnee County Commissioners have approved a major project for the Hunters Ridge area.

This concerns the area of the 46th street exit on Highway 75 just north of Topeka. Construction crews will fix the roundabout under the highway and the two approaches on 46th street.

One lane will be under construction at a time, while the other will be open for passenger cars.

“We’re gonna completely remove the rotted concrete pavement and replace it,” Shawnee County Public Works Director Curt Niehaus said. “In a sense, this is almost a traffic control project. The road, access to local businesses will remain open to the public.”

St. Marys High School hit hard by overnight storms

Niehaus says the majority of that work will take place over the summer school break. Large trucks will have a separate route to get to businesses in that area.
