Students recognized on the red carpet for their work

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Some students in Wichita received a taste of the Hollywood red carpet on Tuesday.

The Crown Uptown Theatre was the site for The Pando Initiative’s 29th annual Star Awards. It gives recognition to students who have overcome adversity to succeed in school.

Families and mentors joined them as their names shined bright in the lights.

“Because kids work hard and they deserve to be recognized for the hard that they put in every day at school and in life,” Penny Olsen, executive director for The Pando Initiative.

KSN anchors Julia Thatcher and Eddie Randle were able to meet with students on the red carpet and take photos with their families and mentors.
