Students to head back to school Aug. 7 as Staunton approves 2024-25 school calendar

STAUNTON — With a little over two months left in this school year, Staunton City Schools has an approved calendar for next school year. The school board accepted the calendar Monday night at its March meeting.

School will begin for students Wednesday, Aug. 7 and the last day will be Wednesday, May 21. Staunton High School will hold graduation Saturday, May 17.

Students will get Thanksgiving break from Monday, Nov. 25 through Friday, Nov. 29. Winter break starts on Thursday, Dec. 19 with students returning to school for second semester Monday, Jan. 6. Spring break for students is scheduled for Friday, March 21 through Friday, March 28.

Other dates students will not be in school:

  • Monday, Sept. 2: Holiday (Labor Day)

  • Monday, Sept. 16: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Monday, Oct 14: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Monday, Jan. 20: Holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)

  • Monday, Feb. 10: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Monday, Feb. 17: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Friday, April 18: Teacher workday/professional learning

  • Monday, April 21: Holiday (Day after Easter)
