Students could get free Greater Gulf State Fair tickets through reading program

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Some students could get a free ticket to the Greater Gulf State Fair — and all they have to do is read 10 books and fill out a form.

According to a press release, the possibility of free tickets is thanks to the Greater Gulf State Fair’s annual Read and Win Summer Reading Program.

The reading program is open to all incoming elementary students within the Gulf State region (Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi) and “aims to encourage and promote literacy among incoming elementary students throughout the Gulf State region,” the release explained.

Incoming elementary students throughout the region are invited to participate in the program that runs from May 23 through Aug. 6 by reading 10 books and mailing the Read to Win form to the office at 1035 Cody Road N, Mobile, AL 36608.

Students who complete the form will receive a free child’s admission ticket to the 2024 Greater Gulf State Fair, which is scheduled from Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 3, according to the release.

In addition to the ticket, participants can also win what officials say is “the ultimate prize: the Ultimate Family Four Pack” which provides four admission tickets and four unlimited ride wristbands.
