Student of the Week recognizes new round of nominees

It's a brand new week. With a new week we have another roundup of excellent students to celebrate and recognize as our newest nominees for Student of the Week.

Local high school students were nominated by leaders at school districts in the area.

Voting is open until 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25. Cast a vote for this round's student of the week by visiting the poll below the nominees. You can submit one vote per hour.

The winner will be announced Friday.

The April 22 nominees are ...

Makenzi Teague, Spokane High School: An avid volleyball player, Makenzi was a part of the volleyball team that had the most wins in a season setting a new school record. Outside of sports, she has also been involved in Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, FFA, Future Teachers of America and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. After graduating, the senior plans to attend college majoring in criminal justice and join the Air Force.

Isaiah Giles, Parkview High School: Described as a revered and dedicated academic, Isaiah will be the first African American valedictorian in Parkview's history. With a commitment to excellence and remarkable work ethic, he has applied himself inside the classroom and out. Isaiah has been involved in National Honor Society, DECA, yearbook, Student African American Brotherhood, Principal's Advisory and the Commerce Mentorship Program. After graduating, he plans to seek a degree in business at Drury University.
