Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Friday afternoon and evening, warning of strong winds.

Northwesterly winds could gust at 80 km/h into Friday evening, and will ease heading into Saturday morning.

"Strong wind gusts may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur," Environment Canada said.

The statement is in effect for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.

Residents are encouraged to monitor Environment Canada alerts and forecasts.
