Street closures for the Carnaval Festival in Mission District

(KRON) – San Francisco’s Carnaval festival kicked off Saturday and many roads in the Mission District will be closed.

The Carnaval Festival takes place on Harrison Street between 16th and 24th Streets. On Sunday, the Grand Parade is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. through 2 p.m. The parade will start at the corner of 24th and Bryant Streets, proceed west to Mission Street, then head north on Mission to 15th Street, and turn east on 15th Street. The parade will conclude at South Van Ness, according to the press release.

According to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), here are the street closures  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the parade:

  • Mission between 15th and 24th streets

  • 15th St. between Mission and Alabama

  • 24th St. between York and Mission

  • Bryant between 17th St and Cesar Chavez

  • Harrison between 15th and 16th streets

  • Treat between Harrison and Alameda

This festival celebrates Latin and Caribbean culture. According to the festival’s press release, the event includes a rich assortment of food, music, dance, arts, crafts and other fun activities and entertainment for people of all ages.
