Street to close during Savona’s Village Yard Sale Day

SAVONA, N.Y. (WETM) — A portion of McCoy Street in Savona will be closing during Village Yard Sale Day.

According to a Facebook post made by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Savona Village Fire Department and the Village of Savona have decided to close McCoy Street from Main Street (state Route 415) to Church Street and from Church Street to Orchard Street from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. Parked cars should be moved from the street before this.

This closure will make it easier for firefighters to leave the department in the event of an emergency during Village Yard Sale Day. Fire trucks leaving the department will have straight access to leave the department with the roadway closed, and this is expected to prevent issues with traffic blocking the fire department’s driveway.

The village started closing part of McCoy Street last year because trucks had been blocked in previous years, though no trucks were called to emergencies while they were blocked.
