Storms, strong winds to return Wednesday. But will it rain on Memorial Day weekend?

Spring rain will hit Greater Cincinnati on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, patches of light rain and extensive cloud cover will spread over the area Wednesday morning. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible Wednesday afternoon through the evening, per a hazardous weather outlook.

A few strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out, with damaging winds being the primary threat, but the coverage may be more limited than initially anticipated. Highs reach into the lower to mid-80s.

Some lingering showers will persist through the night, but the potential for more widespread strong to severe showers is quite low.

Storm coverage should increase gradually into the predawn hours, with one or more clusters of storms possible overnight into Thursday morning. Storms cannot be ruled out on Thursday afternoon.

Gusty winds will be the primary threat, along with heavy downpours and brief water ponding on roads. Highs should be a bit cooler in the mid- to upper 70s.

Periods of showers and storms will occur through Memorial Day weekend and early next week.
