Storms kill 2 in northeast Oklahoma, 23 injured
NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA – Two Mayes County residents were reportedly killed after heavy storms ripped through northeast Oklahoma overnight.
The Mayes County Emergency Management Agency said the two deaths were in the small community of Osage Hills just west of Pryor.
In Salina, a rural community just miles from the Delaware County line, seven businesses were damaged and numerous trees destroyed or damaged homes leaving the community of around 1,400 without power.
Cindy Eaton, who lives in rural Delaware County, but owns Titonka Trading Company, a pawn shop in Salina, said she lost her roof on her home and lost her business.
The shop has been a fixture along Ferry Street since 2003.

Storm winds uprooted trees in the Colcord area of Delaware County. Power is expected to be restored to the community in a few days, said David Beck, Delaware County District 3 Commissioner.
Crews of area volunteer fire departments, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management teams have been on site since 1:30 a.m. trying to clear roads for the power company trucks to get through to restore power, he said.
“Lots of utility poles are broken in two,” Beck said.
“Around 10 homes were either damaged or destroyed,” Beck said. “Several barns were destroyed, and two RVs were flipped over.”
Elsewhere in Delaware County tree limbs were reported down.
In Claremore there were 23 storm-related injuries with 19 individuals transported to area hospitals, the Claremore Police Department confirmed.
Three of those individuals have possible life-threatening injuries, according to a statement released by the police department.
Only residents with an identification card can enter the city until further notice.
The community of less than 20,000 is without power and no fuel is available in Claremore.
In Ottawa County several trees were down, with some wind damage and power outages reported in Miami.
The National Weather Service in Tulsa issued a tornado watch today, until 9 pm for Delaware and Ottawa County and for Benton and Carroll Counties in Arkansas.
