WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Some storm chasers in Oklahoma narrowly avoided a large piece of debris that was lofted by a tornado Saturday night outside of Marietta, Oklahoma.

The chasers were driving along Interstate 35, looking to pull off, when a large chunk of debris fell straight in front of the vehicle, narrowly missing them.

The National Weather Service confirmed a preliminary EF-3 tornado had hit the area. The tornado damaged a Dollar Tree distribution center, Homeland grocery store, Dollar General, hospital and nursing home on the western edge of the city.

Across Oklahoma, tornadoes killed four people and injured at least 100 people. An infant was among those killed. The downtown of Sulphur was heavily damaged.

Tornadoes on Friday in Iowa and Nebraska also caused wide destruction and were blamed for one death.
