Storm potential Wednesday night: Large hail, strong winds & isolated tornadoes

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — The Big Country is expected to experience severe weather Wednesday evening, including large hail, strong winds, and potentially isolated tornadoes.

There is an Enhanced (3/5) Risk for most of the Big Country, which usually means we could see severe weather such as hail, strong wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes.

Meteorologist Dylan Smith anticipates these storms to begin to kick off west of the Big Country as discrete supercells, with elevated risks of tornadic activity as well. As they move to the east and into the Big Country, they’ll congeal into a more uniform/consistent line of storms. Once this happens, the chances of seeing tornadic activity decrease, and the chances of seeing damaging straight-line winds and large to very large hail increase.

The timeline of these storms is anticipated to begin at about 6:00 p.m. and exit the Big Country as late as 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
