Storm damage in the News 5 coverage area (South Alabama, Northwest Florida, Southeast Mississippi)

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The WKRG News 5 First Alert Storm Team is tracking severe weather moving into the area Monday morning. With the threat of high winds and tornadoes, storm damage is possible.

Alabama

Baldwin County

  • “Round 2 has hit us,” a Baldwin EMC spokesperson said. “We have lost transmission to two substations south of Bay Minette. Our power supplier, PowerSouth, is working to determine the cause of the outages.”

Conecuh County

  • Reports say trees and powerlines are down just west of Brooklyn, Ala. along Conecuh County Road 6.

Escambia County

  • Multiple viewers have reported trees down, blocking Appleton Road north of Brewton.

  • Trees are down near the intersection of Appleton Road and Baggett Circle.

  • Viewers reported trees and power lines down on Mason Mill Pond Road near Appleton.

  • Multiple reports of vinyl have been torn off homes near Appleton

Florida

Escambia County

  • As of 10:45 a.m., 17th Avenue at Graffiti Bridge in Pensacola is closed due to flooding, according to police.

Santa Rosa County

  • The Navarre Beach Pier is closed today, May 13, due to hazardous weather conditions.

  • Downed trees and power lines have been reported at various sections of Willard Norris Road from Chumuckla Highway to Dogwood Drive; Indian Ford Road and Petey Lane in Munson; Penton Road in Allentown; Central School Road and Allentown Road in Allentown. Drivers should take alternative routes if possible.

  • Water over roadways has been reported at Highway 87 North at Bullard Road in the Berrydale area and Molino Bridge Road at Marion Way and Ten Mile Road in Chumuckla.

    Santa Rosa officials warn, “Do NOT drive around barricades. Never cross a flooded roadway. There is no way to tell how deep the water is or if the road has been compromised.
    “Crews are working to reopen the roadways…”
