Stillwell third grader wins Doodle for Google contest, advances to national

STILLWELL, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — A third-grade student from Stillwell, Oklahoma won the 2024 Doodle for Google contest for his artwork.

Nine-year-old Keenan Chavez from Maryetta School is among 55 students chosen from over 10,000 entries from every U.S. state and territory.

“Doodle for Google” is an annual competition that showcases students’ artwork on Google’s homepage. This year’s theme, “My wish for the next 25 years,” celebrates the tech company’s 25th anniversary.

“In 25 years, I want everybody to come from the world to have a good life so everybody will never fight,” Chavez said in his written response to the prompt.

Google sent each of the 55 students Google hardware and merchandise and hosted celebrations in their hometowns to celebrate their artwork and achievements.

Voting for the top doodles opens on May 22 and closes on June 4, 2024. These votes will decide which of the 55 entries will be selected as one of the five national finalists.

The top five finalists will then compete for the national winner spot. Voting can be found on Google Doodle’s 2024 voting page.
