Steuben County Sheriff’s Office seeks seasonal part-time deputies

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. (WETM) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office is seeking retired or current police officers who are interested in a seasonal part-time position for summertime patrol of Keuka and Waneta Lakes.

Those who wish to take the part-time position with the Sheriff’s Office must attend and complete a fully paid training in Marine Law Enforcement, Patrol Boat Operation and Personal Watercraft Operation. The starting salary for the position is $20 per hour.

While on the job, the assigned navigation patrol is responsible for protecting lives and enforcing New York State laws by enforcing boating laws and the navigation of waterways in the county during the summer recreational season. Navigation patrol on duty may navigate by patrol boat to ensure orderly and safe boating practices.

All work will be performed under the supervision of the established chain of command of the Sheriff’s Office. The undersheriff will give specific instructions and assistance for assignments.
