Stephen Colbert crashes 'The Late Late Show' to reveal downsides of being a CBS late-night host

The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert made a very pleasant surprise cameo when he crashed Thursday night’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

While Colbert should be rehearsing and preparing for Sunday night’s Emmy awards show, the host couldn’t resist making a special appearance. “It’s not often that we, CBS late-night hosts, have comedy specifically tailored to us,” said Colbert. “I heard you were doing this, I said to hell with the Emmys; I got to see this for myself. I’ve actually got some side effects of being a CBS late-night host of my own right here.”

Colbert wanted to assist Corden with his segment called, “Side Effects May Include” — particularly the side effects of being a CBS late-night host, hosting an awards show, and talking to celebrities every night. However, the segment actually ended up being an outlet for the hosts to hilariously reveal awkward moments and run-ins both at work and at home. Sharing side effects of talking to celebrities every night, Corden said, “Defending your premature ejaculation to your wife by saying, ‘Sorry, we ran out of time.’” The audience applauded loudly, which caught Colbert off guard. “Your premature ejaculation just got applause,” he said — and Corden replied, “It often does.”

The Late Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
