Rain, hail, strong winds, even tornadoes forecast for Wichita. Here’s what to expect when

Wichita is expected to see multiple rounds of severe weather that could bring thunderstorms packing heavy rain, hail, strong winds and possibly tornadoes starting Wednesday night into Saturday.

Wednesday night through early Thursday afternoon could see ping pong ball-sized hail, 60 mph winds and heavy rain. A National Weather Service detailed forecast shows a 60% chance of rain Wednesday night.

The chance for rain Thursday sits at a 70%, with showers and thunderstorms likely before 1 p.m. Those chances increase to 90% Thursday night, with heavy rain, large hail, damaging winds and the possibility of a tornado, the NWS forecast shows.

Going into Friday the forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. with the continued threat of large hail, damaging winds and a tornado, according to the NWS.

Friday night is expected to be mostly clear with a breezy low of 62.

The NWS said Saturday could see the most widespread severe weather with the chance of large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. A forecast shows a 70% chance of rain with showers and thunderstorms between 1 to 4 p.m. and up until 1 a.m.

Sunday will see a slim chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m.
