Statesville teen arrested in connection to Monday murder of Newton man

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Alexander County Sheriff deputies say they arrested an 18-year-old homicide suspect Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies say they caught Statesville resident Karla Breanna Freeland around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. Freeland is charged with one count of felony murder and is in the Alexander County Detention Center with no bond. Freeland has a first appearance on April 1.

Freeland’s arrest is in connection to the death of 33-year-old Newton resident Pang Vueyee on March 25. Vueyee died in an early Monday incident at an Old Mountain Village Drive house. After a search, officers arrested 46-year-old Hiddenite resident Jason Henry Fidler for felony murder.

During processing, Freeland was found with narcotics and charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. Freeland got a $10,000 secured bond on that charge.
