State police investigating pedestrian death on Route 211 in town of Wallkill

TOWN OF WALLKILL - State police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Friday night in the town of Wallkill.

According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Mary C. Shea, 38, of Naugatuck, Conn., was walking on Route 211 near the Route 17 interchange around 11 p.m. Friday when she stepped off the curb into the right lane of traffic.

Shea was struck by a westbound 2017 Ford Escape.

State police said the driver stopped, called 911 and tried to give Shea first aid.

Shea was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said their investigation is continuing, and they are asking anyone who might have witnessed the collision to call their Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300
