State and federal investigators involved in case of missing Weld County woman

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The investigation into a missing Weld County woman entered its fourth month in May.

Family and friends of Kaysey Yoder, who went missing in January, are still holding onto hope.

Anna Green has known Yoder for 23 years and said the 35-year-old mother of four would not go a day without calling her or her family. Now that she has been missing for four months, authorities are calling in other agencies for help.

“It’s been a nightmare,” Green said. “It’s been the hardest thing any of us have ever had to face.”

Back in January, friends said Yoder experienced a mental health crisis before going missing near her hometown in Eaton. Four months of not hearing from her is not promising to Green.

“It means that something is way wrong,” Green said. “she would never go this long without contacting her family.”

Colorado missing woman investigation to expand

On Wednesday, investigators from Weld County Sheriff’s Office put out the word that they are getting state and federal officials involved in the case.

“I’m really grateful for the fact that they are going to expand the investigation and allow other agencies to step in and help,” Green said.

Weld County officials said they have received a number of tips but none leading to Yoder’s whereabouts, all of it made worse by what Green said are trolls online.

“It’s devastating because we’ve had a lot of scammers on Facebook and whatnot, who jump on there and say, hey, we know where Kaysey’s at. We know who has her. And really all that they’re doing is trying to exploit friends and family to get money,” Green said.

Yoder was last seen at the Ault liquor store. She stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall. Anyone with information is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

“You are so important to us,” Green said to her missing friend. “You are so loved and missed and needed and appreciated.”

Yoder’s family has organized a fundraiser to pay for the services of a private investigator in her case.
