State Fair Arena events canceled for 2024 Missouri State Fair

SEDALIA, Mo. – This year’s Missouri State Fair will be without its usual rodeo, bull riding, motocross, and demolition derby events.

On Thursday, Jason Moore, the fair’s director, said all events held in the State Fair Arena have been canceled for the remainder of 2024 due to the upcoming construction of a new indoor facility on the fairgrounds.

“We value the partnership we have developed over the years with the organizers of these events and appreciate their patience and understanding as we move forward with the new arena build,” Moore said. “This project represents a significant investment in the fair’s future, and we can’t wait to welcome these events and more back once construction is complete.”

Groundbreaking for the 140,000-square-foot arena will take place over the summer. The arena is expected to be completed in 2026. Nabholz Construction was awarded the contract for the project.

The new, state-of-the-art State Fair Arena will host events year-round and during the State Fair, such as livestock shows, trade shows, conferences, and community gatherings.

The 2024 Missouri State Fair is August 8–18 in Sedalia. This year’s theme is “Summer’s Best Story.”
