Stanislaus State to begin construction of new building at Stockton campus

(FOX40.COM) — Stanislaus State is starting construction of a new building on its satellite campus in Stockton.

The new planned building is a two-story facility that will span 48,000 square feet. The new building is expected to include classrooms, assembly space, labs, faculty offices, student services, study areas and an outdoor courtyard that includes 1,600 square feet of outdoor gathering space.

Construction is estimated to be complete in June 2025 in time for instruction in Fall 2025.

The new building is part of the university’s five-year strategic plan for the Stockton campus, which is located on Magnolia in the University Park near downtown Stockton. The campus is located across Stockton’s historic Magnolia Mansion, a 16-room, colonial-style home built in the late 1800s.

Stanislaus State’s main campus is located in Turlock and is part of the California State University system.

The university has had a presence in Stockton since 1974 with 19 classes offered, according to the school’s website.

The student population at the Stockton campus grew over the years and most classes are offered in the late afternoon or evening for working adults who want to earn their bachelor’s degree.

The university currently offers a selection of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

Stanislaus State’s Stockton campus is 102 acres and currently is the only public higher education institution beyond community college in San Joaquin County.

University of the Pacific, the other college institution in Stockton, is a private university.
