New stamps to be unveiled at South Mississippi Summer Fair by U.S. Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service has unveiled a new lineup of carnival themed stamps debuting at the South Mississippi Summer Fair in Biloxi next month.

The news stamps belong to a collection called the Carnival Nights. A free-to-enter first-issue ceremony which will take place at 6 p.m. during the fair’s opening day, which is on June 6 at the Coast Coliseum.

The 10 stamp collection is themed broadly after an American carnival, with pictures of familiar fairground ride scenes stylized with bright neon colors against a black night sky.

According to the USPS, a ferris wheel decorated with Carnival Nights imagery will travel to four state fairs across the country.

The South Mississippi Summer Fair will also host a stamp-designing competition inspired by the new lineup.

The competition challenges children aged 12 and under to design a carnival-themed stamp using crayons, markers, watercolors or whatever they have. The contest’s winner will receive four admission tickets to the fair’s opening day, two all-access wristbands and the design will be displayed at the fair and on its website.

Entries must be delivered to the Coliseum in-person, mailed in or sent by email by June 1.
