Stacey Soeldner out as school board president. Here are Tuesday’s full election results in Manitowoc County.

MANITOWOC — The Manitowoc School Board will be undergoing some changes as one of two incumbents running for reelection, School Board President Stacey Soeldner, was voted out.

The unofficial ballot counts show Soeldner received 3,636 votes while Keith Shaw and Kerry Trask, the other incumbent, received 4,713 and 4,264 votes, respectively. That means Shaw will be joining the board while Trask retained his seat. Basil Buchko Jr., who had announced in March he was withdrawing from the race, received 874 votes.

Here are the election results for the other contested races in Manitowoc County:

Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors

  • District 3: Incumbent Rita Metzger won with 358 votes. Challenger Morgan Sickinger received 178.

  • District 8: Incumbent Paul Hacker won with 370 votes. Challenger Mark Linsmeier received 358.

  • District 15: Challenger Dylan Hammel won with 462 votes while incumbent Catherine Wagner received 330.

  • District 21: Challenger Matthew Phipps won with 412 votes while incumbent Rick Gerroll received 354.

  • District 22: Challenger Mike Grambow won with 326 votes while incumbent Denise Heller received 305.

  • District 25: Incumbent Bonnie Shimulunas won with 198 votes. Challenger Doug Wolf received 165.

Manitowoc Common Council

  • District 4: Incumbent Jim Brey won with 174 votes. Challenger Dan Hielman received 61.

  • District 6: Incumbent Eric Sitkiewitz won with 453 votes. Challenger Collin Braunel received 299.

  • District 8: Incumbent Bill Schlei won with 503 votes. Challenger Bradley Barnes received 257.

  • District 9: Challenger Brett Norell won with 273 votes. Incumbent Steve Czekala received 266.

Two Rivers City Council

  • Mark Bittner, Doug Brandt and Shannon Derby will fill the three open seats for the Two Rivers City Council with 1,072, 1,038 and 914 votes respectively. Incumbent Jeff Dahlke received 900 votes and the fourth challenger, Andrew Quackenbush, received 544.

Statewide referendum questions

There were two statewide referendum questions on Tuesday's ballot.

The first asked if private donations and grants should be banned in election administration. Manitowoc County voters cast 9,839 votes for "yes," and 6,519 votes for "no."

The second question asked if only election officials designated by law should be allowed to perform election tasks. Manitowoc County voters cast 10,740 votes for "yes," and 5,597 votes for "no."

Presidential primary

Voters across the state were asked to vote in either the Democratic or the Republican primary. In Manitowoc County, 10,028 people voted in the Republican primary while 6,592 voted in the Democratic primary.

In the Republican primary, 8,120 Manitowoc County voters chose former president Donald Trump as their preference. Nikki Haley received 1,116 votes, Ron DeSantis received 317, Chris Christie received 156, and Vivek Ramaswamy received 87.

In the Democratic primary, 6,033 chose current president Joe Biden as their preference. Dean Phillips received 282 votes from Manitowoc County voters.

Residents will vote for their final choice on who should be the next president of the United States in November.

When is the next election?

Manitowoc County residents will get another chance to vote Aug. 13 for the partisan primary.

That primary will select candidates for partisan roles like representatives and senators in Congress and Madison to be on the ballot in November.

Nov. 5, in addition to the partisan roles in the primary, voters will decide who will be the next president of the United States.
