Student stabs classmate at Gilroy high school

(KRON) — There was a stabbing at a high school in Gilroy Wednesday, Gilroy Unified School District officials confirmed to KRON4.com. The stabbing occurred at Christopher High School at 850 Day Road.

One student was stabbed by another student, according to school officials. School staff and school resource officers quickly intervened.

The school was placed on lockdown as the Gilroy Police Department and Gilroy Fire Department personnel responded to the incident. Gilroy PD responded at 11:59 a.m.

Police said an initial investigation revealed that two male students were involved in a physical altercation in the school’s locker room. One of the students produced a knife and stabbed the other one.

The victim was taken to the hospital and the suspect was arrested. The code blue lockdown was lifted at 12:58 p.m. as first responders completed the investigation. Counselors remain on-site to provide support to students as needed. District leadership is also on-site for support.

The juvenile suspect was arrested for charges related to the incident and transported to Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. The incident remains under investigation, Gilroy PD said.
