St. Amant High School students perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City
ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Twenty students from St. Amant High School traveled to New York City and performed during the National Band and Orchestra Festival at the end of March.
The high school posted on social media that the students explored the city, visited the Statue of Liberty and saw a Broadway show.
The choir performed with the National Youth Honor Choir on the famous Carnegie Hall stage under the direction of Dr. André Thomas, the high school said.
A spokesperson for Ascension Parish Schools said the choir auditioned last year and was selected out of hundreds of other bands that applied.
The St. Amant High School’s Wind Symphony prepared for their performance with the help of Dr. Simon Holoweiko, the director of the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland.
