Spring warmth this weekend before cool down

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! We made it to the end of the workweek!

Our nice spring weather continues as we close out the workweek. Today will bring a mix of sun and clouds across the state as temperatures climb quickly. Most outside of the high country will see highs in the 70s and 80s this afternoon! Along the Wasatch Front we’ll see upper 70s and low 80s. Down in lower Washington County, we’ll see low to mid 90s! While the chance of any wet weather is low, it’s not zero thanks to a weak system moving in. If we do see any showers or pop-up thunderstorms this afternoon, they will favor central Utah.

Utah is the ‘most religious’ state, according to new study

To begin the weekend, we’ll get a day that looks a lot like today, but it will just be a fraction cooler. By the end of the weekend into early next week, we’re in store for some bigger changes. This is thanks to the system dropping in from the northwest. Sunday will bring a chance of spotty showers and thunderstorms while Monday likely brings a better chance as a cold front drops in. By Monday, daytime highs will run about 5-10 degrees below average in northern Utah with southern Utah should see highs near or slightly below average.

Some showers may linger on Tuesday as temperatures come up slightly. By the middle of next week, we’re back to near or slightly above average temperatures statewide ahead of what could be another system that dives in by the latter half of next week.

The bottom line? Above average warmth with mostly dry skies hold on into the weekend before some changes by early next week.
