Special prosecutors sought in case against Drew Peterson’s former attorney

The Drew Peterson Murder case will be back at the Will County Courthouse Wednesday morning.

Peterson’s former attorney Joel Brodsky is accused of violating a 2022 gag order after he told WGN Investigates, he is considering breaking attorney client privilege.

He says he has information that would solve the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, Drew’s fourth wife.

Meanwhile, Peterson continues to make a bid at getting new trial where he may testify while maintaining his innocence.

The former Bolingbrook Police sergeant is convicted in2 2012 of killing his third wife Kathleen Savio. He was also convicted of hiring a hitman to kill the Will County State’s Attorney.

Drew Peterson: ‘Being obnoxious got me convicted’

Peterson’s public defender had a gag order placed on Brodsky which they say he violated by talking about the case and should be held in contemptive court.

The Will County States attorney’s office will ask a judge to get a special prosecutor to handle Peterson’s case moving forward because Brodsky could be called as a witness to a new trial.

Peterson is essentially serving a life sentence for not only being convicted in a 2012 killing of his third of Kathleen Savio, but also for trying to hire a hitman to kill the State’s attorney who prosecuted him.

There are a couple different hearings at the courthouse Wednesday.
