Popular southern-style restaurant chain is opening Columbus location soon. What we know

Fans of the southern fast food chain Jack’s Family Restaurants will soon be able to watch the brand’s biscuits being made from scratch in its new Columbus location in the Old Town area.

Jack’s plans to hold a grand opening for the new restaurant at 3800 Masse Lane beginning at 5 a.m.,May 28. Old Town is a residential and commercial development off Veterans Parkway near the Publix that opened towards the end of last year.

Indicative of its Southern history after being founded in Alabama, the restaurant features rocking chairs on the front porch with a large dining room area and a window for customers to watch their biscuits being made from scratch.

The first 50 guests will receive free breakfast for a month, and the chain is also offering other incentives for its early Columbus customers.

This is the third new location Jack’s is opening in the area, after recently opening locations in Phenix City and Smiths Station within the last year and a half.

There are no additional locations currently planned in Columbus for 2024, spokesperson Kylee Jackson told the Ledger-Enquirer, but there are growth possibilities in the area for the future.

“We are excited to open another location in Georgia and plant our Southern roots in the town of Columbus,” said Jack’s Family Restaurants CEO Todd Bartmess in a news release.

Along with a southern-style breakfast complete with biscuits and gravy, pancakes and grits, the chain also offers burgers, chicken and shakes in its lunch and dinner menus.

The chain was founded in 1960 in Homewood, Alabama as a walk-up hamburger stand. It has now grown to operate more than 250 locations across Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi.

“At Jack’s, good food and good people are the core of our business,” Bartmess said in the release. “We look forward to not only serving locals our Southern food but also to ingraining ourselves as committed members of the community.”
