Ezell’s vote

I see that Rep. Mike Ezell, for whom I voted (regretfully so), cast a vote against aid to Ukraine in its war against Russian aggression. Ezell needs to go sit by Marjorie Taylor Greene in the House chamber. Then Moscow Marge will have Moscow Mike as her new Bobbsey Twin.

Think about it

Every time I go out to eat fast food at an establishment with self-service drinks, I wonder, “Do people ever stop to think as they reach for a lid and a straw?“ The amount of plastic we put into landfills and litter is abominable. It is possible to simply drink from that fast food cup. And are you really so inclined to spill that you need a lid?

Good job

Kudos to those who organized and conducted the Jackson County Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day. It was efficient, orderly and well-run. All those involved did a great job of keeping things moving along. Thanks for a real community service. See you next year.

Distraction

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives refuses to pass any bill to control the border crisis. Why? Because Donald Trump told them not to. Why? So that his supporters could have something to blame President Biden for. What else does have? Certainly not a platform.

Objection?

Exactly what “Blasphemous seminary teachings” concern the United Methodist Church? Arguments about organized church doctrine bring to mind the quote by Mark Twain: “If Christ were here there is one thing he would not be — a Christian.” Twain was not considered an atheist. He was evidently against conventional religion; and the traditions and dogma that prevail within religion. Amen.

That border bill

The bill that was passed in the House still allowed up to 5,000 people a day to enter the United States. It’s time to stop all entry until we deal with the ones that have already entered our country illegally. I would guess that’s why Donald Trump didn’t want this bill passed.

It’s bad out there

It seems that I am now reading more and more about car accidents with fatalities around here. People are speeding like crazy everywhere I go. I hardly see any cops giving tickets anymore. Running stop signs, speeding, texting while driving are not OK. I see it constantly when I drive. No wonder my car insurance is out of control. Start giving tickets. Slow down. Yes, I mean you. Slow down.
