May 12—SFCC announces award, scholarship winners

Santa Fe Community College on May 3 celebrated emerging writers, photographers and artists with the Katie Besser Awards and the Richard Bradford Memorial Creative Writing Scholarship.

Elliott Elkins received the $1,000 scholarship, founded by local author Michael McGarrity, arts advocate Charmay Allred and former Santa Fe city councilwoman Rebecca Wurzburger.

17 New Mexico students win National Merit Scholarships

Seventeen students across New Mexico have received $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the Public Education Department announced Friday.

The scholarship recipients were selected from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, winners of which were announced earlier this month.

New Mexico's 2024 National Merit $2,500 Scholarship are:

Northern New Mexico College to host artist market during El Rito Arts Festival

During the 36th annual El Rito Arts Festival May 18 and 19, Northern New Mexico College will host the 2024 Artist Mercado, featuring local artists, music, food and family-friendly activities.

The Mercado will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in El Pueblito, on Northern New Mexico College's El Rito campus behind Grant Gym.
