Six arrested after funeral for teen Mall of America shooting victim in Minnesota

Six people were arrested after the funeral for a 19-year-old man who was fatally shot in December at the Mall of America in Minnesota.

Johntae Hudson was shot dead at the mall on Dec. 23, and his funeral was held Friday in St. Paul.

Officers at the funeral noticed one man carrying a gun and another man who was wanted in connection with a nonfatal Dec. 14 shooting, according to the St. Paul Police Department.

After the funeral, when cops moved to arrest them, the two suspects fled in an SUV with five other men, police said.

The SUV led police on a chase through Minneapolis and St. Paul. At one point, the SUV stopped at a gas station, and one man attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly captured.

Police caught up with the SUV again shortly after those inside abandoned it. Officers searching the vicinity detained five people, including four 19-year-olds and one 18-year-old. The teens were charged with several crimes, including fleeing police and weapons possession, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

However, the man wanted in the Dec. 14 shooting managed to escape. He was still sought late Saturday.

Four other teenagers have been charged in connection with Hudson’s death.
