A lockdown at Simi Valley High School, which began after a bomb threat, ended at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday after police found no explosive devices, authorities said.

Roads around the campus, closed during the lockdown, were reopened at the same time, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Travis Coffey. The school is located at 5400 Cochran St. in a residential area near Stearns Street.

All students and staff were safe, according to a message to families and staff from the Simi Valley Unified School District.

Simi Valley High school officials notified police at 8:39 a.m. that it had received a threat about some kind of explosive device on campus, said Senior Officer Casey Nicholson. The campus of 1,900 students and additional staff were told to stay in place, he said.

Nicholson said more than a dozen police officers responded and that two Simi Valley K-9 police dogs were sniffing around the campus. Other help was provided by nearby agencies, including Beverly Hills Police, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department and local ambulance companies, Simi Valley police said on social media.

School officials said police checked the school stadium first. Nicholson said no bombs were found in the stadium and that students were escorted, classroom by classroom, to the stadium to allow police to search every building and classroom.
