Shreveport delays water cutoff for Pine Apartments residents

The City of Shreveport is pushing back the water cutoff date for residents at Pines Apartment in an effort to render aid, according to a news release from Mayor Tom Arceneaux.

Services at the Line Avenue apartment were turned off Tuesday morning due to the landlord's nonpayment of utility services. However, Arceneaux instructed the city’s Water and Sewer Department to reconnect water Tues day afternoon.

Pines Apartments residents have been given notice by the city that their water will be shut off at the end of May.

According to the news release, the city was unaware of the exact number of residents affected at Pine Apartments until Tuesday morning.

The city will cut off water at the apartments on May 31, the same date as that for Villa Norte and Jolie Apartments, the news release continued. The extension will provide additional time for residents to make necessary arrangements and explore available options for temporary housing and assistance.

U-Haul will be offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to tenants at Pines, Villa Norte and the Pines who will displaced until they find proper accommodations.
